Well i would assume the motor is brushless and is likely always engaged, so braking would be as simple as some basic software in the speed controller when the brake pedal is pressed say 50% or less, the electric motor will do the braking, and beyond 50% the electric motor would probably still do braking, yet the physical brakes will start to engage then. Put a big spring on the brake pedal so people ‘feel’ like theyre braking even though theyre telling the speed controller how much they want to brake.
Its very simple and everything needed is allready there.
And it wouldn’t provide THAT much energy, but you should be able to get at least 50% efficiency, so its quite practical of a idea if the car is designed to be used on roads where the driver would desire to stop often… And no sense in wearing out the brakes earlier and putting your energy into heat when you can get it back for essentially free.
