I’m not sure about other professions but I’m pretty sure in the medical field they pay foreign medical graduates the same as US medical grads. I should know I’m a product of this. As long as you pass the USMLEs to become an american doctor you will make bank. The trick is for US grads all you need is 50% to pass and for foreign medical grads its a 75% to pass. I think they’re encouraging foreigners to practice medicine in the US because we are not producing enough doctors in our own universities. My mother who is a foreign med grad also told me that foreign doctors are always more willing to just work very depressed areas. I know when she first got here she was working in the Appalachians in west virginia and then in Louisville, Ky. Now that I live here in the US and graduated college here in the US, it kinda sucks to think that youre competition is willing to get paid half of what you want to get paid. I really can’t from and opinion until I look at some data that supports that immigrants are just taking a big chunk of good jobs out there. I mean there’s tons of South American migrant working populations out ther but most of the jobs they take are shit jobs no one really wants to do. ---

Its like saying that all Americans are poor white trash sister fucking redneck pickup driving farmers because there are large portions of the US (read: the entire South) that are like that. You act like they are rounding up uneducated poor rice patty farmers by the planeload to ship them over to steal your job. The people they would be bringing over are already doing good for themselves over there, there just isnt much of a market for skilled IT people over there. Therefore they have a labor SURPLUS. We have a labor SHORTAGE. If you want to make movies you have to go to Hollywood. They simply want to go where the work is, and the US companies, who are desperate for work, want to let more of them come over. ---

Really, are you sure about that? “Abit built its factory here, of course, for the same reason nearly every major international manufacturing company has established a beachhead in China: cheap labor. From what I gather, typical wages for factory workers run from $80 to $100 per month. At these rates, business is booming. Entire cities are known for specializing in certain types of manufacturing, for everything from injection molding to cut granite. In what appears to be a typical arrangement at a Chinese factory, most of Abit’s workers live near the factory, in apartment buildings situated around a residential quad area, as you can see in the picture below.
