The difference is that they don’t realize how much of that $2K is going for taxes. That’s dependent on the area so $2K in Albany might do better than $2K in Guilderland. Also, $4K here is really a $3K mortgage as most taxes range from $8-$25K+ per year. Most of the starter homes are around $10-$15K a year depending on the school district. That hurts. ---

taxes succkk, last year they over estimated my escrow and sent me a check at the end of the year though 🙂 that was nice. The housing prices around here really suck compared to western NY, a 300K house around here would be about 150 out in western NY, and commercial property/multi familys are crazy rediculous cheap. ---

A lot of people seem like they overlook the taxes when searching for a place to live. ---

I went and checked today… the one going towards your house is a nice one…so on your way home it’s coming from the Valley View way… and then there’s a mini one just after the entrance to that newer neighborhood before yours…and Pollock Rd. there’s 3 under the bridge, and they are NICEEE ---
