Sounds reasonable. My two cents would be to budget in a few hundred extra and fly south for a clean one and drive it home. The difference between a 10y/o truck from North Carolina and one from NY is staggering. Otherwise, when you’re shopping, feel free to look at trucks in the Boston area. I enjoy checking out cars and giving detailed reports. I come with references. ---

Honestly I’m a ford guy, but everyone I know that has had any newer ford truck has had a TON of problems with it. All covered under warranty but you won’t have one of those… if I was you, I’ve be looking at like an 05ish silverado. If you’re okay with higher miles you could get an 02ish silverado 3/4 with the duramax/allison for around 12-13k. I own an 08 2500 with the diesel and honestly it’s a great truck. The older duramaxes are a little different than the new ones I think though. ---

Don’t buy and 04/08 f series with a 5.4 lt in it or be prepared for a 600 tune up when the plugs brake in the heads and or engine damage occurs when trying to extract broken plugs . I work on em all and so far Chevy has the best drivetrain power etc , dodge just sucks , fords are weak, terrible 4wd setup that’s prone to braking, weak rear diffs , brakes suck , wired elec issues. ---

My father just traded in his Chevy 2500 last year. It was an 01 gasser but I’m a bit turned off by them because I don’t particularly like the interiors and he had a TON of electrical issues with only 45kmi when he traded it in. Granted it wasn’t driven much, but pretty much any time he did he had a problem with it. ---

Same truck chad lol, yes loaded up Gm,s have some issues mostly window motors or seat heaters but in the long run its still cheaper than other options . Trust me I’m a die hard Chevy fan but if I was to buy new or slightly used I would be in a tundra lol they all have there issues but the Chevy seams the cheapest . ---

It seems like truck values went way up in the past few years. Dont let a one time spark plug change scare you away. Ive had a few minor issues with my truck but nothing too serious and its at almost 108k right now, about 60k of my driving. Otherwise just an airbag sensor, turn signal switch and reverse/parking sensors. No motor or transmission work has been needed and all the suspension parts are original too. The rearend bearings went bad but that was most likely due to a fuck up by the guy I had replace a leaking pinion seal. The brakes on my truck seem ok. I havent changed the front pads and rotors since Ive owned it and I replaced the rears about a year and a half ago. ---

they wear out and make noise mainly. Its a ticking noise like a diesel from what Ive read. Supposedly no harm is done when they wear out though ---

Those plugs do not make it 100k lol those plugs need to come out every 40/60 . ---

You changed my plugs at around 94k. Your body truck are awful rotboxes. My brother has an '01 and its all rusty underneath and the radiator support is just barely hanging in there. I know yours was rotted pretty badly too. The 4.6’s in the '97-'03’s chuck plugs. My brother was going 60 when a plug launched itself out of the motor, taking out a coil in the process. Theres several guys on the F150 sites Im on with '04-'08’s with 200k+ and no issues. Every now and then somebody posts about a bad one needing a motor or tranny much sooner than that but it seems like these trucks last pretty well. ---

Paul thats because they updated the head design to have more threads in the spark plug holes. That’s why them early ones like to chuck plugs, it aint just the 4.6. All the early alum headed truck mod motors do it. ---
