how big of a flag pole are we talking about here? I am sure he could have compromised and done something a little on the smaller size and it wouldn’t be as big of a deal. edit: they told him he could put a smaller one on the porch. sounds like a stubborn old man to me. ---

i just cant believe that this is happening. this guy represents what this country was originated for. freedom. after what hes done to serve his country, he deserves every right to doing this. its scary that the county isnt allowing this, and that theyre going to take legal action against a man that helped keep a world where this country still even exists. anyone that feels this man is in the wrong, i hope you go to hell. ---

I’m so torn on this. on one hand, dudes a hero, its a flag pole, its an american flag. cant hate on that. on the other, he knew the rules, they even tried to compromise with him. Some people might not share the enthusiasm he has for the flag and such. they moved there to have a HOA and pay/participate so they can have rules set like that, as ass backwards as they are. ---

If you don’t want to be at the whim of an authoritarian home owners association don’t live in that kind of community. I don’t agree with the HOA, but they have the right to deny his request and take legal action against him. I don’t get why, if flying the flag is so important to him, he only began the effort in September of this year. How long has he lived in that residence? This just isn’t right… Now I will wait for burnt\_toast or JoeS to lambaste me for being “everything that’s wrong with America” ---

Okay bottom line is this We in the United States are governed in three ways, Local, State & Federal Government, NOT a Home Owners Association. and for that Matter if they(HOA) are going to pay my taxes and mow my lawn and fix my driveway repair my toilets pick up my water and electric without cost to me then maybe I would listen BUT more than likely they arent so they have no say. LoL what a bunch of stupid people this shouldnt even be an issue BUT its just about CONTROL ---

I still don’t understand why anyone would want to live in a HOA, the only semi-plausible reason is “my neighbors shitty house doesn’t drag down my property value” and even that is a shitty reason. ---

The thing that really seals it for me is that he put in a request, was denied, and did it anyway. If you ask a cop if he cares if you go 1MPH over the posted limit, he’ll probably tell you that he doesn’t care.
