Not sure what you mean by that???
I’m building it to go to CSCS time attack events. Probably try to as many lapping days as possible, some solo events, CASC race events maybe, and occasional drifting.

Cage mateial is 1-3/4" .120 wall DOM tubing. (Couldnt afford Chromoly cage). Built to SCCA specs just in case I want to road race in the CASC events.

The design is taken from bits of different ones I’ve seen around on other race cars. As well my Dad has built many race cars way back in the Stone age (LOL sorry Dad!!!) so he knew what to do.

The holes on the plates are dimpled. We made a dimple tool for this, as well as the tube bender for the cage. I did all the welding.

Will post more pics and info later

Hey man, props for a quality home-build!
It’s nice to see, and it looks like a good father son project too.

Have fun with it, even when the SON-bashing starts.

Oh, and keep the updates coming!

Big Stuff 3…oh come one man…why?

If you were to get any BS3 system I would hope is was the SEFI…but they are selling for well over $2000usd? There are many \>= systems specifically for the SR20 that come in way cheaper?

I can respect being difference, but in this case I just don’t see any plus.

Enlighten us?

ps - nice project man. Will look forward to seeing another 240 out there…

Yea, the BS3 was not my choice but ws acquired as a trade.

Its a long story but we finished a uncompleted/botched swap a JDM Bluebird motor into a Nissan NX2000 for a buddy out here. He had been told that he needed this system to run the car when actually he didnt.

Nice system though, and it has lots of features (some of which I wont be using). My dad tuned a Honda Civic with a turbo’d LS vtech motor last summer that had a BS3 system in it and he seemed to like the programming.

The bitch of it is that we have convert the SR motor optical CAS to a magnetic sensor and willl have to install a crank angle sensor as well for the coil-on-plug setup.
Had to do this because couldnt locate a distributor from an SR20 NA motor. That would have made it a real easy intall.
If we can pull it off though we’ll have individual injector and spark control, so that’ll be cool to try out

Just waiting for delivery of a CAS from a 96 Ford explorer. The drag race mustang guys are using this on ther BS3 intallls.

We’ll document this mod in case anyone else wants to try it (Provided it works out)

Hey guys, thought I would post some pictures of the CAS work and adapting the sr one to the ford explorer

this pic is the ford magnetic sensor being removed from the explorer CAS shaft
 ![http://i42.tinypic.com/2zekmmd.jpg](http://i42.tinypic.com/2zekmmd.jpg)
this one we drilled a hole in the magnetic top similar to the SR optical sensor. This will allow us to place the magnetic wheel on the SR CAS shaft.
this picture shows the Ford magnetic sensor bolted and Keyed to the SR CAS shaft and Housing.

Dude, I like your project.
You can put Altima fans on that rad and move it closer to the engine it will let you have intercooler piping very short and as stright as posibble. Keep rad and intercooler 1" apart to avoid heat-soaking.
What intercooler is that, and how big is it?
