> Amazon, it was like $120. There is a list on TWC’s site about what modems are approved, so check that if there’s a cheaper alternative you may want. I know the SB6121 is $80 and is approved as well, but the SB6141 I got replaced that, so I dunno. They also have wireless modems as well so you could get rid of your router too if you wanted.

Dang, $120? after 30 months of owning, it’ll pay for itself. Alot of ppl dont understand that when you get your own modem, we will not give you tech support from then on. We will only make sure the signal is being sent, beyond that you’ll have to contact the maker of the modem. I think the “tech support” is worth the $3.95, but :dunno.

I support whatever you guys all choose to do, but just make sure you can fix your own equip from there on out. or have a good warranty.

im on the techy side of the spectrum, and i def see the benefit of using my own modem, one it hasent been referbed a million and one times and its not a pile of shit like the twc one that i have right now, i wouldnt mind paying the 4 $ if i got a good modem that didnt shit the bed all the time, ive gone in 6 times within a course of 6 months to get a replacement because the thing shits the bed i think my time spent on the phone with twc and driving there waiting inline (taking time off of work) and gas spent is worth getting my own modem that is a good quality part and up to date
