You underestimate the news and their desperation for a story.
Story about 2 or 3 tornadoes throughout upstate is a lot more sensational than just one hitting Amsterdam.
At the moment it seems it wasn’t a tornado, just very strong winds.

you could be right, and im not going to keep going around in circles arguing about it.
however I was there for the mechanicville one. Me and my parents sat on our front porch in round lake and watched/heard it. During the one that was going through mechanicville, another one came down in the middle of round lake for 20 seconds or so, then went back up. Funny how news coverage didnt get that one either.
im not saying it was a “twister” situation. Obviously the thing didnt stay planted long enough to leave a path. However I dont see how “strong winds” just do damage in one specific path… If it was a case of just strong winds, wouldnt the damage be much more wide spread??
think about it.

Downbursts do a hell of a lot more damage than that, and it almost looks like a bomb went off.
I saw an island on LG the morning after a bunch of nasty storms, and apparently there was a downburst/microburst right on the island, there were maybe 10-15 trees left standing, all of the big ones were laid out like a bomb went off right above the island. Crazy shit.
