# tracking a stolen/ lost cell phone????

is this even possible? my phone was stolen from my hotel room last night. Its a samsung omnia on verizon.
I found the case out in the parking lot like 20 minutes after i realized it was gone…whoever has it will not answer calls and the phone is now turned off.
I have filed my claim, paid the $50 for a new phone, but i would still like to try and find my phone.
As of right now, its still activated, but the phones off.
Any help would be appreciated, this is def not what i wanted to deal with today…

The police would be the only ones who have the ability to trace the phone.
Might as well file a report but dont expect much. Buffalo police are worthless unless its a murder or drug crime.

bah i wouldnt even bother with the cops. im sure when someone tries to activate the phone they will get denied and turn it in.
I want to call the hotel and get the security cameras to see who dropped the case considering it was right under a camera in the parking lot.

man this would of been a good reason to drop verizon and buy my iphone. but really good luck finding out who it was… keep an eye out on CL and such too, theifs are dumb

Technically any phone with a battery in it can be traced…but they won’t do it for having it stolen…

Your cellphone also doubles as a microphone when not in use, some even can with it turned off.
These nifty tools are saved for the NSA though incase bin Laden calls one of us. Anytime now…

if you have the nsn or serial number and call your provider they can tell you whether someone has tried to do anything with it, i.e. change plans etc…i believe. call your provider and ask, they will know the most im guessing.
