# Trading vehicles

Has anyone traded cars from out of state ? I have had to different offers one being from PA and the other from NJ. What do I need to get from the other seller and what would I bring if I did trade .

I’m pretty sure PA requires notarized titles. Hopefully the other guy knows for sure.

It would be easier to act as if you are buying his and he is buying yours. If you are looking to save on tax because of the trade you might want to go to the DMV when it’s slow and ask them about what you need to get with the new car, let the other guy deal with it on his end.

I’ve never heard of anyone getting the trade in tax allowance doing a deal outside of a dealership. I’m not saying it’s impossible but I’ve never heard of it.

Yea that’s what I thought but it’s the only reason I could think of why not to treat it as two separate transactions.
