trying to get my ps3 hooked up to the internet and i cant get it to work, im trying to hook it up with a wireless connection. I get all the way to the end and it says that the host timed out or something like that, one thing that may be wrong is the password when it asks for the wpa key, i remember it but i remeber it not working at times. Im not to into computers so i dont really know how to trouble shoot it, and when you respond please speak in english so i can understand thanks ---

is your router set up to do DHCP? i’d have to get better description. ---

i have no clue what that means, ill have to check it out, i found out that the password is wrong so im going to have to look into that. Its my mothers works, router, she uses it so she can do work things at home i guess. ---

You may have to change the pass key to WEP encryption. Thats how my router is, and after entering the pass key trough my Wii, it connects no problem. Not a PS3, but same idea. ---

if it’s for your moms work it’s probably a secure connection hence the WPA instead of WEP. You would need the WPA password, but i’m not sure i’d advise using that router anyway. ---

why is that? its almost the only way i can get internet to the ps3 since the router is downstairs and im upstairs ---

very true, i have to find out this password though, i have to have some tech guy from my mothers company come over and reset everything just for the password, seems a little rediculous but its a business and they have to stay safe ---

You can usualy set the router back to defaults by holding the reset button in for like 30 seconds. Also, if you’re using a linksys, be prepared for a fight with the PS3 and online gaming… It works but theres a few things you have to change. ---

LOL, I’m thinking more about hard wiring mine to, but I’m too lazy to be running another 100ft of wires… Though after I made a couple minor changes I’ve been getting good performance out of mine with the wireless. ---
