OK, hypothetical question: what happens when an idiot-friend calls you from a junk-yard and he just pulled a Yamaha SHO motor and has no way of getting it home but remembered that you have a gutted 1989 240SX? This:
OK, another hypothetical question: what do you do when you get the said engine home and you have no engine hoist to get the 800 pound monster out of the back of your 240SX and only two guys to do it? This:
Even with that leverage we couldn’t get it high enogh on our shoulders to clear the back of the car so we ended up buying a proper chain hoist. Yay for… nothing, really. Yay for nothing. This totally sucked. But if anyone needs an engine pulled, I now have a chain hoist in my garage. Its cheaper than a full engine hoist, alright!?

To actually get the engine in without the crane chain wrecking the hatch, we had to undo the struts at the bottom and since the hatch wouldn’t close, we just jammed them between the rear panel and light assembly which is how the glass didn’t break since the hatch remained quite solid. Needless to say I was going about one mile a week all the way back to keep the engine from bouncing up right into the hatch glass.

He has an Taurus SHO already. He wants to port, polish, turbo, ets, ets, this engine while still keeping his car on the road and than just drop it in when its all done. Though he says if he grows a pair of brass ones before spring, he wants to tackle putting it into an MR2. Which I think would be bitchin’! That V6 would be awesome in the rear. Though I don’t know how much of a weight issue that would produce…

That reminds me of a corvette I saw in Lethbridge with a load of 2x4 sticking out of the targa roof. Yikes haha
