Probably a Noob question, but will the weight difference between the ls1 and the sr throw the suspension geometry off to the point that it doesn’t handle/balance as well?

It’s a good question. Thankfully the LS1 is an aluminum block motor so, for it’s size, it’s not as heavy as one would think. Also, most kits mount the motor quite low and quite far back so getting the car to be balanced isn’t difficult at all.

The LS1 is lighter than many 4 cylinder turbo setups.

^you got that rite. rb is the best btw hahaha
the ls1 is really a good choice for the 240. it actually helps the weight balance because the engine is so light and the big tranny moves more of the weight to the center of the car. u need to let me get a ride in this thing!

This is awesome, I now have an LS1 F body, but back in the day, I had a 240sx and I always wanted a v8 in it. For now I will be happy making the Firebird handle good

hahaha - I’ve tried to sell this car numerous times, but the reality is nobody values modified cars…so in an effort to “get my moneys worth” I’ll just run this thing into the ground.

So finally found some time to work on the car. Needed to find an ignition problem that turned out to be some splitfire coilpacks that had taken a vacation. At some point they got too hot and got damaged. (Not a dwell issue)
Still need to sort out boost control and IACV but other than that the car is tuned on the new ViPEC and feels pretty dam good. Once tuned, I took it out back and did a few burnouts and some spirited driving to celebrate…twas fun.

Just tracked down a MAC solenoid locally hear and have some fresh splitfire coilpacks in the mail en route to me. Insurance is already back on the car and it will get re registered in the next day…now all I need is some better weather and I’ll be lovin’ life.
Just waiting…now in the garage at home.
