Anyways. I guess the guy who designed it as an idiot according to you. Oh well. ---

Pardon me for wording it wrong but in case you haven’t noticed, the bolt is not in a hinge. ---

The mounting plane by itself is irrelevant since in shear you’re only worried about the relative angle between bolt shaft and applied load. If the angle is 0 you have pure tension / compression, otherwise you have some shear. If you were referring to the Autoselect bar and the ‘hinge’ bolts, they’re still in shear.
