anyone live there, or used to live there?
just wondering your thoughts on the neighbourhood…
ie. safety, crime, noise (from frat/student houses), stability of electrical service, dsl/cable internet availability, snow plow service, etc?

Houses are pretty shitty yet resilient to how much abuse they’ve been through.
Loud lots of times stupid drunk college kids all over, all the time
make friends with cops, trust me.

Crime isn’t bad. I know someones house that got broken into up the street and I haven’t heard much beyond that. I had some kids throwing bottles at my house after I stopped them from breaking down a fence too. There are some parties that get loud, but the cops are there shortly after. Plowing pretty much is a joke. After it got bad, my road was maybe plowed once all winter. Internet is okay, I have cable. You can tell when a lot of people get on it, it definitely slows down some. We only lost power once or twice in the year I have been here.
Walking distance to the bars is nice. Also, there the metrorail station is right here, so that’s rather convienent for going downtown.

get an alarm on ur house, park ur shit in a garage… everything is fine… the closer you live to main the more likely you will be able to pick up a wireless internet connection 😉

I’m really not complaining, my car is in the garage. I’m at the end of the road away from Main. I was thinking about setting one of those Cantennas up to try and get some free interent. I figure there should be enough unsecured ones around that if the one I am on goes down, I can just find another.

My friend lived on lisbon and his apartment was robbed at gunpoint while everyone was there. Your best bet is to know someone who lives there so you can party, and live somewhere safer.

the north side of main can be ok. heath/merrimac/englewood. depends on the house/landlord
the south side…prolly not.

I wouldn’t live down there again. If you do plan on living there stay up towards the campus, the farther down you go, the more chance of being robbed (Merrimac -\> Minnesota). Also make sure your landlord is decent, and will fix glaring problems in the apartment, unlike my old landlord.

Minnesota near main is ok. My buddies live on heath, they have been there for years. Domestic disputes up the waazooo out there but nothing really voilent. Apartments are shitholes however.

i use to live on minnesota right off main st. and my house was robbed 3 times. one time some crack head tried to break into one of the cars that was parked in the backyard and my roomate caught him doin it. so my roomate is screamin at him to get the F out of here, and the guy turns around and says yea whatever n#\*\*@ , turns around and continues to jimmy the lock. so hes like wtf, “im callin the cops”, apparently the cracky wasn’t Gone in 60 Seconds Material ,so he finally gives up and runs off. oh and the whole time this was happening, my roomate was pointin a bb pistol that looked real at cracky the whole time.
The second time, someone broke in while no one was home and took some shit. i guess the last person out forgot to set the alarm.
And finally the last intrusion was the worst. Two gangstas break in with guns while two of my roomates are home, they proceed tie them up in one of the back rooms and then loot the house.

I don't want to rain on your parade man, there are definetly some cool aspects to live in that area. like all the parties,( if thats what ya like ta do) the bars, easy to get downtown, close to UB south, sals pizza, jims steakout. Just watch out for the stupid crazy motherfockers that are out there. oh yea one other thing, someone was kind enough to carve Fuck You on the passenger door of my car. I have no idea why, who, when, or where. So if ya have a nice car, your going to worry about it all the time.

I had some friends that lived on merrimac. House was shit, but was hella cheap. Heath and englewood arent to bad. Crime around there isnt that bad. They are now living on highgate, and there are some pretty nice houses there. If you move onto minnesota or lisbon, stay close to main street or you will regret that.

who are you? this is the exact story that happened to my buddy nate at 84 minnesota like 4 years ago, someone was trying to break into this girl morgan’s car
oh shit it must be, cause they tied up nate and kirk
