I always wanted to call a citizens arrest. I just don’t know how you go about doing that.

Do you just yell “CITIZENS ARREST!” and then tackle the person?

:wstupid:

I think I know who it is that pulled you over. . .

and their jurisdiction pretty much consists of teh univiersity, and all streets adjoining it. So if you did something within that area they are game. The person whom I think wrote you is, from what I hear, a bit on the gung-ho side

What was the officers name? We deal with a lot of them.

UB also deals with trials through UB and through Amherst Police. All depending on the charges brought up.

We primarily deal with them when we (mostly I) catch a shoplifter at our work. But the initial paperwork goes through UB Police and then gets handed over to Amherst. I’ve heard that Amherst Police is sometimes more lenient than UB. But as an above poster mentioned, they do have the same authority as State Police.

i think the buff state police are actually new york state police. Similar to NY parks police but instead of partolling a park, they patrol a college campus. They can pull you over and arrest you that same as any other state law enforcement official

I work for Fredonia University Police. and yes, they are real cops. They are State Police. They can write tickets on city streets. Our cops have a certain territory and roads around the college where they can write tickets. University cops used to be rent-a-cops, but not anymore. We have 14 officers, it’s all changing.

I asked a UB campus police. They can give out tickets off campus. They don’t do it that often, but if they feel there is a need. But he said that they do get a lot of DWI arrests on the ride between north and south campus.

But generally, they will issue a ticket and also call in an officer from the city that they are in to take over if they want.

yeah i had my friends 97 mustang impounded by them. i “ran a red light”. i quote it because i watched the other side of the light and saw it was red and just entered intersection as turning green. anywho they pulled me over ran his plates/registration. appearantly he had never renewed anything or not paid something as everyhting was suspended. they called the wrecked and off she went. Cops were very cool about it though. this was on main street/ winspear.
