cross posting this from another forum. US Airforce guys in Japan and other parts of the world find that the US Airforce approved some chinese company with an office in Cali to supply a few thousand K-trucks for use on bases around the world.

> yes, the company has an office in the US, Cali, but all they do is import and distribute, they are manufactured in China. I used to do contracting for a building I ran and yes, awarding Government contracts to foreign companies, especially CHINA is a big no-no.
> Of course when overseas, if there is no US equivalent service/company available to do the work you need done, then it’s ok to contract to local foreign business, but still not China!!!
>
> I just went over the truck and wow… it’s a giant cheap piece of shit. It’s parked next to a real “K” truck made by Suzuki, and comparing every part you can see the obvious cheapness in it.
> For example, looking at a plastic box that houses some sort of wireharness and relay, first off, the plastic around the box has “overflow” plastic from the mold they used, like it squeezed out of the mold and they didn’t bother to cut the excess off. Then, looking at the wires, they used freakin CRIMP connectors like you buy at Radio shack for hobby projects!!
> The mud flaps are some sort of fake rubber, made of plastic, paper thin, made to look like rubber. The metal “bumper” is actually attached via a trailer hitch connector and it’s crooked. The rear glass is not even safety glass, it’s “tempered” and doesn’t have a DOT approved decal on it.

they should go with the cheapest company that provides what they need. without competition we just end up with American companies ripping off the tax payer. I don’t like being ripped off.

how well the product performs remains to be proven.

funny story. I am sitting in an Air Force owned Ford F-350 right now. This trunk has 6504 miles on it and the turbo is already shot and the radio is dead. As soon as an American car company produces something that isn’t shit then we can be upset.

little do we know… all the trucks that china sells to our military are actually hibernating robots, each armed with a small nuclear device. When the time comes, they will transform into the destructive automated devices meant to carry out their true purpose… DUN dun dunnnnn

Here’s part of the OP "chinese company with an office in Cali "…so technically they are employing American workers right? What’s the difference then?

well if you’d read the first post , it says

“yes, the company has an office in the US, Cali, but all they do is import and distribute, they are manufactured in China.”

thats nowhere near the amount of employees that a car company will provide jobs for

annnnnnnnd since you mentioned nissan, here ya go

Nissan North America - U.S. Manufacturing
Nissan has three production plants in the United States - in Smyrna and Decherd, Tennessee, and Canton, Mississippi. Production at Nissan’s Smyrna Plant began in June 1983. The vehicle assembly plant has an annual production capacity of 550,000 vehicles and represents a capital investment of $2.5 billion. The plant produces the Nissan Altima, Nissan Maxima, Nissan Xterra, Nissan Frontier and Nissan Pathfinder.

The vehicle assembly plant in Canton, Mississippi, began producing vehicles in May 2003. The $1.4 billion plant now produces the Nissan Altima, Nissan Quest, Nissan Armada, Nissan Titan and Infiniti QX56. The plant has an annual production capacity of 400,000 vehicles.

Nissan’s powertrain assembly plant in Decherd, Tennessee, began production in May 1997. Today the plant manufactures all the engines for the complete lineup of Nissan and Infiniti vehicles produced in the U.S. The plant also forges crankshafts, and cylinder block casting operations will begin in the spring of 2008.

Well for one, IIRC bing’s not American he’s Canadian. So there goes your hypocrite theory.

Two, bing isn’t spending a ton of money with his right hand to save American business while giving money to chinese businesses over American businesses with his left hand.

Not the same at all.
