My morning was spent at Home Depot getting supplies, then building 16’ of shelving where the oil tank used to be.
 ![http://www.nyspeed.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=10562&stc=1&d=1253902633](http://www.nyspeed.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=10562&stc=1&d=1253902633)
Once wifey goes back to work at 3 I’m going to cut the door out of the tank with a circular saw and metal cutting disk, then clean it and burn it.
 ![http://www.nyspeed.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=10563&stc=1&d=1253902633](http://www.nyspeed.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=10563&stc=1&d=1253902633)
It’s just paint on the back. I’ll scrape that off.

I still need a good way to cut 4 6" holes and 1 8" hole in sheet metal…

shitty duct placement…

That pic makes it look like a headless metal cow.
How cool would it be if you put a cow head on the front (as pictured)
then smoked your meat in a metal cow carcase?

You bet. Got a tool that’ll make short work of four 6" holes and one 8" hole in sheet steel?

Anyhow, progress:

Layout the main door:
 ![http://www.nyspeed.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=10565&stc=1&d=1253917807](http://www.nyspeed.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=10565&stc=1&d=1253917807)
Start cutting with my trusty circular saw (the entire tank was smoking while I cut, it was awesome. I was wearing FRC from head to toe):
 ![http://www.nyspeed.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=10566&stc=1&d=1253917807](http://www.nyspeed.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=10566&stc=1&d=1253917807)
Door cut. Notice the absorbent kitty litter I had poured in ahead of time:
 ![http://www.nyspeed.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=10567&stc=1&d=1253917807](http://www.nyspeed.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=10567&stc=1&d=1253917807)
Cleanup time. Mix kitty litter with old broom dipped in hot simple green & water, stirred not shaken. Worked like a charm. Don’t ask where the oily water went. :scott:
 ![http://www.nyspeed.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=10568&stc=1&d=1253917807](http://www.nyspeed.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=10568&stc=1&d=1253917807)

I opted for a lovely 4’ piano hinge for both it’s stability and stunning good looks. If VW faggots can put rusty shit on a shiny car and it’s cool then I’m beyond cool putting shiny shit on an oily smoker.
 ![http://www.nyspeed.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=10570&stc=1&d=1253918022](http://www.nyspeed.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=10570&stc=1&d=1253918022)
And the final cleanup. BURN BABY BURN!
 ![http://www.nyspeed.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=10571&stc=1&d=1253918022](http://www.nyspeed.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=10571&stc=1&d=1253918022)
Still have to cut the holes for the smoke/heat in both the barrel and the smoker, cut the vent in the smoker, cut a vent in the side of the barrel, and cut holes for the rerod that will become the grilling surface. Grilling on re-rod is manlier than anything you have ever done.

Will it be removable for cleaning? I’ll see if I can find a 4 and 6" hole saw for a drill.

The alcohol burn was fun. :pedo:

It’s clean now. Just gotta find some time and probably borrow a plasma cutter from HRK or someone to cut the vent pipe holes, then install the grilling surface, then smoke a lot of meat. Gonna be a couple of weeks now.

Looking really good

Just a suggestion, but once you get it all finished up, may be a decent idea to put it on wheels(if possible).

This thread is motivating me to build something similar.

Far too much effort. I envision myself using this once, maybe twice, and then selling it and/or dragging it to the curb.
