Looking to buy vagcom, I’m curious as to whether or not the eBay cables are worth it/work. I need a USB-HEX-CAN I believe (going to be used on a 2002 and 2004 jetta 1.8t) correct me if I’m wrong. Would like to go the cheapest route, Ross-Tech is way too expensive to buy new, is it better to buy used Ross-Tech or buy the eBay cable and just use the free software from Ross-Tech? ---

If you want the software to work properly, get genuine. That way you can do a lot more than simple code reading/clearing. Also, for the '02/04 MkIV’s, you don’t have to have a CAN-enabled interface. If you want it to be forward-compatible, then get a HEX. ---

KII-USB Interface is all you NEED. But I would get HEX-USB+CAN Interface incase you ever get a new VW/Audi ---

I have an ebay that matched up with the free version of vagcom… Now I have the full version figured out a way to get the full version. My ebay cable works fine with it nothings locked.
