JOSHUA SAVILLE, 15, Orchard Park High Costume: Monkey with Fez “Halloween is my favorite holiday. This year I am a giant wind-up monkey with cymbals and a fez! It was not very easy to make. First I pa-pier-mached the ears, the cymbals and the key (which is made from cardboard and an old yogurt container). When these were dry, I spray-painted the cymbals and key gold and painted the ears. Next, I made the fez. I covered a large plastic cup with red felt, then painted a gold and black stripe around the top and bottom and glued on beads and sequins. Finally I threaded the tassel through the top. I covered a pair of shoes in felt and glued sequins on those, too. I painted gold and black trim on a red felt vest I sewed myself and glued the beads and sequins on and the giant gold key in the back. I bought brown faux fur [fake fur] and made a jumpsuit complete with tail. I sewed this all by myself. Next, I sewed a hood. Finally I glued the fez and the ears onto the hood.” :gay: ---
