only catch appears to be you have to bring your own phone of pay retail. service through tracphone. am I missing something or is this awesome? It’s cool if you don’t care about service quality or data quality Most who use prepay wouldn’t be able to afford the 650 entry price or the lack of being able to insure the phone ---

A lot of people are already doing this with unlocked iPhones. My coworker who I sold my 4 to is on that plan and hasn’t had a single problem. ---

found one potential catch. terms and conditions prohibit streaming music and video, but after looking around on forums it looks like they just have this in there to hold it over your head and ban you if you are downright abusing with data [http://www.straighttalk.com/terms](http://www.straighttalk.com/terms) I don’t understand the elitist hate. you pay money and get the service which comes from the same towers and at&t and others that tracphone have agreements with. I call service maybe once every two years with ATT, I can handle an idiot for $15 a month saving + unlimited data. I have 4 iphones and with corp. discount I’m at $250 a month. this would save $50 month. ---

its funny this thread popped up…I’m sick of spending $100/ mo for a basic single cell plan with data…I’ve been seeing a ton of comercials for that “Net10” and checked out their website… Appears they pay to use towers by Sprint/At&t/Verizon/T-mobile and have BOTH cdma and gsm networks for $45/mo, supply your own phone. the “coverage” maps on their site are impressive, but most likely because they are just all 4 major carriers maps mashed together. I can’t seem to find any reviews online…but it would be pretty sweet to grab a google nexus4 for $300 and get a no-contract unlimited plan for $45/mo if the service was reliable enough… ---

nope. if a local business can’t compete, it’s time for them to find something else to do. I’m looking at $600 a year in savings, that’s no joke. ---

lol. I’m only going to say 2 things here: Anyone using their service for business use looking to switch to save a couple bucks should seriously consider the premium their clients pay for access to you. “you pay money and get the service which comes from the same towers and at&t and others that tracphone have agreements with” does not mean you get ALL of their towers. I’m out. I left the mobile industry to get away from these kind of discussions. its a never ending circle of crap ---

Ive been thinking of doing this myself. Sell S3 and use the money to buy a N4. The $50 a month savings will pay for the cancel fee in 4 months. ---

As it’s said a bunch of times in the android an iPhone threads, most of the time when someone is complaining about “service” it’s actually the phone causing issues and NOT the actual cell service… ---

Most of the savings is lopping off the ungodly amount the carriers have to pay Apple for the phone compared to every other manufacturer. There are still too many people out there that think in terms that a new iPhone costs $200 because that’s what they are at the carrier store. ---

If You could just get a nexus4 and pay $50/mo the difference between paying the discounted carrier rate on the phone and the plan costs, it’s paid for itself in 60days essentially (save $50 on the bill for two months and you’re even between the two already)…then after 60days you’re saving $50/mo…which is $500 for the remainder of the first year, and $600 the following year. at that point you could buy a brand new _ANY_ phone at full retail and still be ahead, with no fear of cancellation fees or any of that BS ever again. Also, if a phone craps out within the first year, most manufacturers gaurantee the phone itself for the first year against defects. If you can get more than a year out of a phone then you’re seriously saving loads of cash. ---

Nexus 4 is a great deal. If I had to ditch my amazing circa 2003 AT&T family plan for whatever reason a Nexus 4 and something like this or non-contract from the carriers would be my choice.
