lol i posted up on this page taht i purchased a 5130 also and its apparent that those who get off on watches think they are shit…but im happy with it and it has yet to show me the wrong time. ---

i bid but lost an Omega Speedmaster Triple Calender today… i’m bidding on another one tomorrow… just got my watch box in… china skeleton, Omega cal 265, Oris F1, Seiko 5. Will scrap the china skeleton eventually… Speedy next… then shooting for a swiss skeleton. i was all set to purchase a used tag, however… after reading that story about Michael Kobold and the Kobold watch company…I really want one. They are reasonably priced too. I saw the nixon 5130 and thought it was a well made watch, call it ego…but I can’t try to pass myself off as a business man wearing a nixon. ---

Kobolds are really not all that reasonably priced. you cant get a decent new one for under $4k. You can scoop up old versions for cheap sometimes… but always over $1000. Nixon’s make me mad. ---

I’m not a fan of Kobold at all. Buy a rolex, seriously if you’re only going to have one watch a rolex is the watch to have. ---

wow, i like watches as much as the next guy … but reading this thread makes me feel poor. $1k-$4k for a watch?? DAMN! but man are those some good looking watches, esp Joe’s Cartier ---

i like rolexes simply because they are, in my opinion, one of the easiest watches to work on. very accurate for a mechanical watch. still will never beat the accuracy of a quartz watch though. ---

Rolex is often a total poser watch. On account of the strength of the brand it’s the watch that people buy who want a nice watch but aren’t interested at all in watches… i know dozens of people like that. They don’t even know what model of Rolex they bought. All they know is that it’s a Rolex and how much it cost. I would not want to be mistaken for one of those people. Although, i will most certainly own rolex’s at some point in the next few years. Whereas with an Omega, it’s not quite as expensive, even though they are trying to get there, but when someone spots your Omega they know you’re into watches as well. And everyone who owns an Omega knows exactly what model it is. I have had business associates from target accounts notice my Cal 265. in meetings. It sparked an important conversation. It was quite obvious that i was into watches owning such an obscure Omega, whereas, had i had a Rolex on they would simply have assumed my dad bought it for me… ya feel?
