It might have come with software, but out of the box Windows Media Player doesn’t have DVD Decoders on it. You can download some or look on the computer for DVD software. WinDVD PowerDVD However, I also think Windows Media Player 11 supports DVD playback so maybe you can download that. stuff like that. ---

Definitely need to install some DVD playback software. You can use an add-in for Windows media player or go to a stand alone player like WinDVD. I have vista on my laptop and have no dvd software loaded and I can watch dvd movies. ---
