Update:
…so, got the verdict on my 91-in-a-55 and tint ticket(s).
Reduced to parking on pavement and opening door unsafely.
$280 for those and then lawyer fees.

§ 1214. Opening and closing vehicle doors. No person shall open the
door of a motor vehicle on the side available to moving traffic unless
and until it is reasonably safe to do so, and can be done without
interfering with the movement of other traffic, nor shall any person
leave a door open on the side of a vehicle available to moving traffic
for a period of time longer than necessary to load or unload passengers.

Drive around the and wait for someone to open the door, drive to it and blast it off the hinges! Call cops, ask to ref 1214 and give them a ticket… then get car fixed under their insurance!

Had to post this. I recieved a 105 in a 45 on the bike 6 years ago in North Greenbush. Went to court like 3 hours early and without a lawyer. The court officer was making fun of me because i stopped and said he would never go that fast down that road ever. So long story short, the ticket was reduced to 60 in a 45, no points no nothing. I had to pay $220 plus court fee, so roughly $270. Lucked out big time. But kudos to the parking on pavement. But the door thing is complete bs.

A friend of mine got this ticket after the driver of the vehicle shit his pants and locked the windows. He opened the door as they passed a trooper.

They just want your money.
I got stopped for 92 in a 55 a while back in schodack. All in all, with being honest in the end I paid a $100 parking on the pavement, no points, nothing.

This. That’s all it’s about. That’s why I find the tint laws, etc. to be such a crock of crap. It’s all about revenue.

I was in Menands court for a 73 in a 55 from 787 and not ONE person received points for their original ticket. It was parking on pavement after parking on pavement. And the people that couldn’t pay and plead guilty that day had to come back a month later and haggle a lower parking on pavement ticket fee. Insane money grab.

That’s all most tickets are man. They just want your money. That’s why I always rant about tint tickets…it has nothing to do with cop safety as they say, all about money.
Or why texting was originally a ‘secondary offence’ and they even said in the press release for that that if they don’t get the desired results (IE don’t make enough money) they will make it a primary offense.
This state and all of the municipalities within it are so broke they’ll take $200 for ANYTHING. They dont’ even care about the points or giving people points.
