My 1st Anniversary is this weekend, the wife booked off.

i just commented to a colleague that i hadnt bought her anything yet since i bought her a new car earlier this year and we just bought a home as well.

I was told that 1st anniversaries are a BIG DEAL! (for the wife anyways)

what did you do on your first anniversary?

Buy her some parts for her car, you know, like a cat-back exhaust, maybe some rims.

poop in a jar.

You should definitely do something nice, but I think it would be unreasonable of her to expect an expensive gift, considering that you just bought a house and a new car. Unless you are making a ton of money of course.

I took my wife to the Glen Iris Inn at Letchworth for lunch…then did some senic driving.

That was better than flowers and a card.

A nice dinner and a thoughtful card goes a long way. Just make her feel special, it doesn’t have to cost a fortune.

Granted my first anniversary is 9 months off, but I’m going to go ahead and say you had better do something for your first anniversary if you want a second one. 😛

Did you do the whole “freeze the cake top until your first anniversary” thing? If not, you’re golden. Call the bakery and have them make you a new top. Surprise wifey with that and a bottle of champagne and she’ll be thrilled.

Granted I don’t know your wife, but women in general seem to go for that whole “thoughtful” horse shit.

Joking aside, take her to where you guys first met, first restaurant, where you first kissed, where you proposed. Like, actually make it a point to sit in the same spot, and tell her “You know, this is where we were standing when I asked you out” , etc etc (which ever has the most significance). That can just be part of the night, then go out for some memorable fun.
I really wouldn’t go “all out” , because you have many, many more years of anniversary’s to come.

I can’t believe you guys have been married for a year already…She loves to shop…so maybe get her a gift certificate to her favorite store or a Spa day thing…dinner in Toronto…you shouldn’t have to get her anything too expensive.

Gotta love the responses you are getting…

What does she like? What makes her smile? What places does she like? Food to eat? Take all these things into account and plan around them. You dont have to blow large amount of money to make your 1st a memorable one. Let me know the above and I will give you some suggestions.
