I received a strange email to my .edu address today. There is a bit of activity on the web with people trying to figure it out. Has anyone else had this delivered to them or have any info on it?
It was also sent to a number of other .edu addresses. This seems to be the MO.

They are probably spammers scrubbing the net for .edu email addresses, then sending you a crap email to verify that it is a legit email, then selling the legit email list to their client, who in turn will send you more spam.
If your email would have bounced they would have taken you off the list.

I’ve seen spam emails before that just send out random words or a passage from a book, but I just felt this is different due to its call to action.

Why are you worried about it? If you don’t recognize the email address don’t open it. That’s my policy. If it’s that urgent they will email again or call you.

i recieved a similar message in my ub account that was addressed to completely random e-mail addresses both \*.edu and others. the message itself didnt make much sense and i was mad at myself for even reading it.
the sender had an e-mail address that looked harmless and i think was an .edu so i didnt think anything of it.
that was about a week ago and i haven’t gotten any spam since.

Ya most schools put their students emails online. Pretty easy to get a list of students since that would be the target group for this.
