# Weird problem...

My s13 is having some troubles. I noticed most of the time when i switch on my highbeams only my passenger side light comes on. Now, to make it more weird, sometimes it works. To top the cake sometimes when i switch to high beams BOTH lights go out… untill i change back and forth to low then back to high.
Any suggestions before i rip into the wiring?

Maybe your car is shlammed a bit too much.
Your tire has probably worn through the wiring harness running in your right fender, and is shorting out some of the wires.
One quick look under there and you will see if this is what has happened.

Although Theo is right it may not necessarily be the case.
I had a similar problem and it was right at the socket. If the socket looks melted an/or burned, that’s where your problem is.
You can either harwire it into the bulbs (what i did) or replace the whole harness which is a pain.

both cal/theo have good points.
Drivers side wheel well, check teh harness, I’ve had this problem.
But also, I have had correded plugs, no the ones into the lamps (although you should check these to to make sure they make good contact) but the other end of that sub-harness that attaches to the chassis harness under the upper rad saddle.

harness is fine… hasnt been touched by the tire 🙂
i will have to check the connections and such… as far as hardwiring them, where do i wire the lights to inside the vehicle to retain the stock high/low switch on the steering column? i have been thinking about rewiring my car
