# Welding the frame rail?

Hi guys, what type of steel should I use to weld the frame rail! Mine is rusting out at the elbows in the front.

if it’s hard, and you can’t bend it by hand. DO IT! 🙂

I used square stock. Cut it open and trimmed to fit. Basically boxed the frame.

I would say use an HRS sheet that you can get at most metal shops. you want to use a softer metal so that the weld will just pull the new metal more then the old metal. and the softer metal will be cheaper, so I would say 1/4 inch HRS sheet would be the best/easiest.

i used 22 gauge steel…bought a sheet 3 ft by 3ft at crappy tire…its worked good for me…

This works I’ll be going by the metal refinery tomorrow to buy what I need.  
Once I fix this i’ll have a minty fresh 240sx!
