Read the DOT and nhtsa rules in regards to import, the EPA ones are not even relevant when the rest clearly states these are illegal to own in the USA. Do some research before being smart ass.

It’s different with “kit” cars (which im assuming this was going to be titled as)
Thats why its such a fuck up right now because of motorex shenanigans, basically there isn’t enough info here to even talk about its legality anyway

It’s not “different” with “kit” cars because they were still manufactured by a company who is a motor vehicle manufacturer. So they still have to meet the requirements. If you knew what the qualifications were for a kit car, you’d know this, but you’re too busy fighting tint tickets and telling people how to illegally import skylines obviously.

for shits and giggles what are the laws, How are the illegal compared to a kitt car.
from what i can figure out it does not meet DOT crash test standards or emiisions testing. But once the car reaches 25 years of age it could be then legally registered

Basically the government gave kit cars an exemption from a lot of the safety and emissions stuff. They do this because they know only a tiny fraction of the population is ever going to build a kit car so it’s not a big deal. Kit car exemptions don’t apply to mass produced imports. I’m sure this was done because any idiot can hire an importer to bring a car here and you’d quickly have dealers selling “kit car” Chinese clone 3 series made of paper mache and the tears of orphans with no emissions controls, airbags or functioning seat belts for the low low price of $3000. It still doesn’t explain why the government devotes so many resources to tracking down Skylines. Even without the DOT and EPA testing everyone knows Nissan’s premier sports car is safe and carries similar emissions controls to other 90’s vehicles.

Although I do feel safer now that these cars will be crushed.
Why is driving a car without seat belts and airbags unsafe but I can ride my motorcycle? Should we outlaw motorcycles for being unsafe? I feel like we shouldn’t even have cars because the drivers of cars are unsafe. We should all have to take mass transit with drivers that are certified safe with multiple licenses and are professionals.
