Fixing up an old home can be like putting whipped cream on a shit pie.
It looks great BUT what is inside???
It is amazing how new drywall and paint can suck you in sometimes.
Like I said before the location sounds bad.
The first three rules of real estate are LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION.
Have you looked at any new builds yet?
This may change your mind in a hurry.

It’s true, I lived very close to that location for 15 years… it is a busy road, only positive is there is not much more development going on there, and there has not been for some time. Only think I would be concerned about is if they built a development in the woods across the street. I doubt they will because the land is very swampy, but who knows, builders in amherst will build on just about anything.

you may think they are ugly but they are selling a ridiculous amount of them to places from Cali to montana. Many people that have been interested in selling them are having no issues either since they are extremely efficient, architecture is considered cutting edge, and follow function over form

my 150k house runs almost 2k a month when you include all utilities
it ain’t cheap…
but i have almost 5k a year in taxes

So where ever hippies are found, ugly storage container looking houses are not far behind? 😉
Luckily here in WNY those who are hippies are generally also penniless, so they don’t influence architectural design. 🙂

WNY is seriously a land of an architecture void, anything built after the late 1800’s is just so shitty and generic, I still blame allentown for that whole movement.

idk, i’m probably the only one but I like some of those pre-fabs… I either like old city style houses, or extremely modern, some of those pre-fabs are pretty modern looking housing.

prefab is great when you’re paying over $300/ft to buy or do a new build…but out here they’re still not economically viable

WWII and late 1800’s are a long way’s apart. I agree that after 1945 there are not a lot of nice buildings were put up in this area, however from 1880-1930’s are about 50 years of some great Architecture in the area.
