# what does the nipple on the side of a turbo control?

as posted above i see many turbos with nipples and plumbing that runs of the cold side outlet … whats it for cuz my new turbo doesnt have that lol … i was told it is inline with a boostcontroler and wastegate? help :S and if i need one should i drill and tap the housing :(☹ or can i do something off of the intercooler piping. Prolly a silly question any clearification would be awesome

The port on the compressor is the pressure source. Most common if you have an internal wastegate in which case a line runs from that to your wastegate.

Eg.

You can source the pressure from elsewhere if you can’t tap the compressor, just DO NOT get it from the manifold, get it as close to the turbo as possible.
