# what happens during the R.I.D.E program?

is it just a blitz to catch seatbelt offenses and drunk drivers and the usual stuff??
do they check your license and registration?
i haven’t gone through the RIDE program, i’m just afraid of how many tickets i might get if pulled over.
i heard one time they even had the on-site emission testing?
where they stick the probe in the muffler and make you do a idle test?
so let me know what goes on.
and what does RIDE stand for??

i’ve been through numerous rides and it’s pretty simple…
it will be a blind turn or a place over a hill, something like that… anyways they’ll make you open your driver side window
officer will stick his/her head close to you and ask a few Q’s…
if she feels you lying or under the influence she’ll ask you to come outside and do a breathalizer
if not … you go home

i think the emission testing thing is crazy…if its true i hope i nvr get caught having to do it lol

RIDE is horrible.
The cops took the plates of my Datsun after they spent a half hour deciding that it wasn’t street legal. Then they looked under the hood for emissions equipment. It wasn’t hooked up properly so they gave me a $380 emissions ticket, then told me to tow the car home myself or they will impound it.
That was in 2003

what they are doing now is on the exit off the highway they have ride so you have no place to go but str8 toward them… they ask you a few questions and like he said if you lie youre pretty much \*\*\*\*ed… but in a way i think thats one of the best things they have done yet… keeps people who drink alot off the roads and alot of people alive… a friend of mine was hit by a drunk driver and put into a coma for a month… and he was the designated driver go figure… but they stop you lower window ask questions dont get nervous or ur screwed lol… ive been stoped comming back from dinenr and ive said yah i had one with my dinner and they let me go. thing is with me i drink half a beer and my eyes go blood shot red lol… i hate it but i dont drive if im buzzed… not safe.
also some places where there isent alot of traffic or any near you when you go threw they nail you will stupid stuff and check out your car… but you can usually see the lights flashing before you hit it.

I have been through a Ride where they did check my license, ownership, plates, insurance…They checked it all. But if you don’t have one of these things you shouldn’t be driving anyway…

In Japan, a “RIDE” style breathlyzer test takes less than 30 seconds with a tiny handheld unit… no mass of cops, just one cop that stops you…
It’s done throughout the year, not seasonally…

yeh same here, i wouldl fail even before they reach the tailpipe. lol
they can probably smell the raw fumes from their cruiser

when i got pulled over one time, they checked under the hood, but luckily the cop didn’t notice the EGR tube was cut because of the aftermarket manifold. Instead, they got me for a ticket for no horn.!!

got pulled by RIDE plenty of times. just very routine and nothing major. sometimes they even give u flyers about drinking and driving lol. nothing for most people to worry about.
I got pulled over for drinking and driving before… and got let off with a warning since the cop saw that i was perfectly sober, i just had the smell on me.

We’re not the only ones. Member kurtaceez has a 91 TT 5speed. He’s in Markham like me, but I haven’t seen him around on the streets. :S
Good to see a fellow 300 owner though. I hear they exist, but I never usually see them. Strange, before I got this car I used to see a lot of 300s around. I got my 300 in May and I haven’t seen another one since, but I’m seeing a lot of MkIV Supras running around. They’re far more rare than the 300.

ooohhh so 3 of us that we know of…cool cool …yes they do exist…theres a guy in my subdivision with a gunmetal grey 300…nvr had the chance to talk to him but i see him often…and also theres another 300 ive seen in my friends subdivision just north of me…it kinda makes me mad cuz i see soooo many of them…then i dont feel so different ☹ lol nice so its new to u…ive had my 300 since i was 15 yrs old lol Nice ta meet u Patrick…well it had sumthin to be with the Nox…Nocs?? bein to high…and it wudda costed a lot to fix…a lotta work to be done…so it was just cheaper to pay to get the sheet changed lol

haha, try passing RIDE with the asian glow 😛
but yea, i’ve been stopped by RIDE a few times, nothing major, they just poke their head in to smell for alcohol, and chat with you to make sure you’re sober. I remember getting coupons for stuff after then let me through.
i never had a problem though, mainly due to the fact that I don’t drink at all.
