i got a $70,000 house for $35,000.
it was my step-mother’s grandparents’ house and they sold it to me to settle the estate, or something along those lines.
70 month term, $500/month, no interest. Both my house and my car will be paid off around my 29th birthday. 🙂

40k–mostly student loans. about to be 80k after i get my masters degree. i’m not worried about paying them back.

college with honors, post grad at georgetown, us senate on capitol hill, and good in interviews… trust me, it aint what you know it’s who you know. to say anything else shows how naive you are
we’ve had this discussion before :doh: the only post secondary education that pays off is in the sciences bc you’re taught a skill not just ‘stuff’.

good point…
but add education to that list…you cant teach without higher education degree & certification…even if you get hired under emergency cert…they only give you like 2yrs or so to get your higher ed. stuff done.

more bullshit, some of the dumbest ppl i’ve ever met were teachers. :rolleyes: they’ll hit you up for $ any chance they can get

I know both ends of the spectum…a couple of my friends teach @ local schools & heather does too…they are all pretty smart, but i’ve met some of their work friends @ parties etc…& there are some real ditzes …like wow…they are teaching todays youth.

sure some are smart… but in highschool i bet most smart kids were as smart as most of their teachers by 15. and alot of teachers our age became teachers for one of the big three
1. i flunked out of bio-chem-eng… so i’ll teach it (the old those who can’t do, teach theory)
2. my mom was a teacher and she really had a nice lifestyle so i’ll be a teacher (can’t knock that if she can get you in a district)
3. i want to coach (enter sport here) so i’ll get into teaching to get me my coaching job

Bout 130K on the house, A6 and Z all together. Maybe a grand in CC debt. That is personal debt, not including the company debt. Plan on paying off the Z and maybe the audi this year.

no one i know did it for those reasons(but thats only like 3-4 poeple)
…but i know what you mean…it wouldn’t suprise me.

It really depends. In construction it dont matter at all really, i dont think anyone in my company went to any type of schooling and there are hangers and finishers (Drywall) making 150k+ a year. Example, my dad dropped out of school and rarely works 40 hours a week and he made 103k last year. It does take about 5 years or so to make the big money and you gotta really bust your ass and know how to do everything right. but i would rather do this anyday over a business type job. this really can only apply for men with construction cuz i dont think very many woman could keep up with the hard work day in day out but maybe they can i dont know. my girlfriend is gettin a masters degree so we will see who can make more.

wait until you are your dads age and see how much fun it is then, my next door neighboor has been building decks for 30 years, poor guy can barely walk now ridden with rheumatism (hardcore arthritis). I mean he has a nice house and made good money, I just wouldn’t want to eventually not be able to move because my back hurts or my whatever hurts in 20 yrs. 50yrs old isn’t old anymore but your body might feel like it’s 80 by then ☹

my dad worked for bell atlantic. (now verizon) retired at 52 was in great i mean great shape then. now he is 59 and he has aged more in the past 4 years then in the previous 20 years. he also smoked 2 packs a day (camel unfiltered) he did physical labor all his life at Bell. and he is paying for it now. cant even lift a flat screen 30" tv into the TV stand. :down: but he has a porche and a nice house and he never went to school either.
but hopefully i will teach m-f and then do some landscaping on weekends and summer and make lots more money on the side. :hitit:

My stepdad has rheumotoid arthritis, he has to get IV medications every 2 weeks for it. He’s been doing construction for a long time, so I’m sure that’s has contributed to it. BTW, he’s only 45.

Our Niece is 3… she has Junior Rheumotoid arthritis… Her’s is just genetic.
