I would definitely freak the hell out and run away. Snakes are one of my only fears.
I lifted up a piece of plywood last summer to find a super brightly colored snake laying underneath it and I sprinted straight into the house. LMAO But, so did my friend. We went back with a gun and it was gone.

my sister has garden snakes and what she swears to be copperheads in Georgia when her grass gets too high. She usually lets the doors run in the back yard to scare them away before she cuts it. Im scared to go out there when we visit.

she lets her grass get long enough that she can’t see copperheads in it?
The second she fires up that lawn mower, and starts cutting, there will not be any copperheads in that grass.
Snakes do not usually stick around when they hear commotion. I still have only seen one snake(3 inch baby in my garage, under my mower) and I have lived in NC for a year now. I also go on a lot of hikes and go mountain biking a ton.
There is no point in running fast if you see a snake. They will not chase you. Their striking radius is not really THAT far either. If you see one, be calm, get a broomstick and remove it if you need to. If there is no need to remove it, just slowly and calmly walk around it. 90% of all snake bites happen when the person is trying to kill them.

Snakes are awesome fucking creatures. I want a ball python or a boa so bad, but my boyfriend is scared of snakes, and when I lived at home, my dad was petrified too.

I used to catch snakes all the time when i was younger. I would go to abandoned/ old houses near feilds and lift rocks and plywood. I once caught a snake that wastn so friendly. It coiled up in the bucket that i had him in and his tail started shaking and he kept trying to strike us.lol I got nervous so i kicked the bucket over and ran.:lol:
I never thought rattle snakes were around WNY but i guess i was wrong, unless it was one of those fake rattle snakes that pose as one.
