I was just thinking about the true benefits I have at my job, and was wondering how it stacks up to other people on here. At first I thought I got great benefits, now I think I can do better or the same anywhere. I can’t mention where I work in a public forum, but I’ll tell you the basic perks. I’ve been there for about 2 years… 2.5 Weeks Vacation. Tons of manager approved time for leaving early (sent early with pay)… 6% 401k Match, fully vested after 3 years. $3000/yr educational grant. Health insurance runs about 50 per month. In office gym for 15/month. ---

The usual paid holidays and 2 weeks vacation + personal time and sick time 401k, not matched though free education if it’s work related free laptop free data plan low health insurance costs prob some other stuff that I forgot… ---

pension 16 hours of time a month (8 sick, 8 vacation) 40 hours of personal time a year (figure 29 days a year total to start ) 12 holidays insurance for $11 a week (Empire plan) dental/vision travel reimbursement (if more than 20 miles) @ .59 cents a mile (I think) 19% off of verizon service paid tuition free meals the rest of the perks are really the breaks that you make for yourself… thats pretty much all the job is worth, is there a “in what ways does your job suck thread?” I work for the WNYDDSO for NY state ---

considered perks by others…i consider them to hinder creativity and brain activity. 1.on computer all day long 2.whatch tv all day long 3.very little paper work 4.wear anything i want 5.from noon till 10 6.located near tons of good food 7.very interesting people that really make me appreciate my education… ---

401k w/ 3% match pension medical / dental free education MBA / certs / pretty much most business or tech. stuff 3 weeks vac (for me at this point) onsite gym (don’t use it) ---

They put a hold on 401k matching. So I will say paid vacation at my sales per hour, holidays, and they hired me back three times LOL. ---

I have been working 1 year as of last Wednesday. When I first started right out of college I received: 1. 2008 Chevy HHR with Gas/Oil Change card to drive from my house to work 2. Great starting pay and hourly so I am free to take overtime when needed. 3. Travel for work which cover all 3 meals, get paid for the time traveling if off hours or weekends, and some entertainment 4. Required on call about one week every month and a half but get paid 3 standard hours for the week just for the inconvenience of being on call and then any call you take is pure over time. 5. Laptop and Cell Phone (Pay 1/2 my iPhone ATT monthly cost since I use it for personal too) 6. 18 personal days off the first year I started plus 9 company holidays 7. Ability to buy any book or take classes for any product we sell if I need to or want to 8. 401k with 4% match 9. Great health/dental/vision benefits 10. Small company (\< 100) sales/engineers/customer service employees that deal with international companies such as Praxair and Sodexo 11. Wear jeans every day unless I meet with someone 12. Flextime so I can come in at 9 and leave at 6 if I am up late or come in at 8 and take overtime 13. One raise per year and two bonuses per year (even got them in December) ---

the question is, what don’t I get. 35 days Paid Tine Off full health coverage for like $40/month employee discounts to basically everywhere reimbursed cell phone laptop after 5 years here, my kids can attend duke university for free, or they will do tuition reimbursement for any other school my 403b matches an awesome number(don’t remember) paid job-related training work travel is paid, but I never travel work from home whenever free Time Warner Business Class Upgrade Additional cell phone discount ---

i work at best buy matched 401k what i perceive to be a decent deal on health insurance tuition reimbursment paid holidays double time and a half on holidays i work discounts/accomodations through a lot of different services all electronics at 5% above cost a pay scale that i feel is extremely generous 3 weeks vacation and another week added each year. ---

Free tuition 🙂 Also, 403b matched + 2%, more vacation & sick days than I can use. But what’s more important is that I spend a lot of time just shooting the breeze with faculty. ---
