# What tires do you guys drift on?

I’m trying to find out which tire brand is the most popular for drifting on the **rears** that you guys are planning on using in the 2011 season. The most popular brand will have a GBtires special, so post up!

why would you buy new tires for drifting. Go to the back of garages and take used tires. Unless your sponsered using new tires for drifting is pointless.

used tires just dont cut it when you have 350+whp, for the most part. i use nankangs 235/40r17 to be exact.

wow, I’m surprised people actually drift on 18s.
I can get nankangs for supppper cheap, but just want to see everyone’s brand of choice.

Even without 350 whp. If you want good control and to go super fast you need good tires to rip. used tires that are old and dry regardless of tread depth offer no grip and therefore no control. Even with 200whp you cant keep your foot to the floor with shitty old tires and expect to go fast.

drifting on new tires is so different then used. its night and day. u can feel tires grip back when you need it to so u dont go too wide or hit a wall or offtrack lol

experienced drifters will drift with new tires, those who are just getting the hang of drifting might use used tires.
it all depends on your skill level and how hard you will push the tires to.

I honestly just want the cheapest shit you can get,
235/40/17.
After trying a few Chinese brands last year, i noticed that as long as under 250whp with my tire size, the tires burn off nicely, no delam or anything. Obviously situation is different for u guys running bigger turbo’s and different engines.
With that said, If you can get insane prices on federals again i want those, i love those tires. Nankangs would do also. I liked the triangles i used last year.
