# What's the most incorrect car statement you've ever heard?

Its called grafting. like say you cut a branch off of an apple tree, you can graft it onto a cherry tree and it will grow apples on that branch. or, you can take the branch off while it is still alive, do like i said, and grow a separate tree. doesnt work all the time because it is a massive stress to the tree, but does work. i dont see why seran wrap wouldnt work. you just want something to hold the moisture in.

you know what, I think I got carried away with the train of thought…and just posted about somebody else’s stupidity when I had to deal with it. 😛
now that my mind is back on track, I had my hood open at the track some time ago, trying rediculously hard to cool it down without ice ( :bloated: on my part), and some guy comes up to me and says
“That quad 4 really kicks, don’t it?”
me: I guess. :cjerk:
The Quad 4 is a 2.3L engine, more torque and more powerful than my 2.4L LD9. I guess this story was in the same spirit as the thread…
Some guy pretends to know about YOUR CAR, but is wrong to some level or another.

i had a 1980 bmw 323i euro. people told me that car doesnt exist. i laughed.
went into advance auto for a starter and battery for a reliant… they asked what motor i said i don tknow. their reply was asking if i had it with me :bloated:

Reliant K came with the 2.2
Reliant Aries Came with the 2.6 (conquest motor NA)
Put a conquest turbo on a 2.6 aries :snky:

lookin at an 06 pontiac front wheel drive wtiht he 300 hp v8, i forget which model…
me:iono if i want that, it would have to torque steer like a monster

yeah, i’m not saying car salesmen need to know everything… but christ, just admit if you don’t know EVERYTHING, don’t lie like an asshole
b/c thing is, if you are a customer who does know that kinda shit - you know what you want and what you’re dealing with anyways, they’re just the talking head who gets it off their lot. don’t insult their intelligence or they’re not gonna wanna listen to you in any event

I had some kid in a 4dr green Saturn once try to tell me he had a “Monster Truck Engine” in his car. I asked what motor it was he said it was made by “Rotex” and had like 700HP. Now I say Rotex… don’t they make snowmobile engines, as to which he quickly replied “NO they make Monster Truck engines“. So I was like Pop the hood then. He said “no, I don’t let anyone see it unless they beat me in a race, and I don’t want anyone seeing my NOS” So me in my 1989 Grand Prix (white with a red bumper yeah most of you know it) I was like lets race than, so we pulled out caught a light and went. I walked him, then he did the classic ricer fly-by. I caught back up to him but he rolled up his window and would not pull over. Too bad I really wanted to see his “Monster truck Engine”, what a tard.

A salesman started this thread, and sure, there are alot (unfortunately) of car salespeople who aren’t very well informed. But for every single one, there are 40 customers who think the STi is so fast because it has nitrous.
