Intake/exhaust helping out MPG? Not sure how that’s even relevant but I didn’t say V8s get shitty mileage. I basically just gave the EPA ratings which as of 2008 are pretty accurate. Go yell at the Feds. 🙂
With that said, 15/23 to 23/30 is a _HUGE_ difference. For reference, my Suzuki and the Scion get exactly as advertised.

Engine breathes easier, better milage, pretty simple. Only goes so far though obviously. And i think mine was supose to be 17/23 factory, its more like 19/30 when being “good”

Having an upgraded intake/exhaust should not change MPG at all. The engine still maintains “stoich” at around 14.7 at cruise (assuming gasoline).
With that said, 2008 EPA ratings are fairly close to typical user experience but the two aren’t close so not sure how accurate that person is with their car.

All the vehicles ive owned, after a catback and intake i have picked up 1-3mpg believe it or not. There are numerous articles about this.

It could be the way you are driving but you ultimately do not gain MPG strictly from those mods. The ECU during off-load is constantly checking 02 feedback to maintain stoich. The same goes for the tests where they used duck tape on the intake to restrict air coming in and still maintained the same MPG (assuming they didn’t go WOT to make up for the lack of power).

i never heard that on the mess decks, but it is true, those old carb’ed chevy/ford/mopar’s got horrible gas mileage, but like you said, the EFI, obd2 examples do put out some good MPG numbers. but you also got to take in that most of these 6 speed GM’s cruise at 80mph in 6th at like 1900rpm…

Well i dont know what to tell ya but those are my observations according to what i have done in the past. Modified Mustangs also just had a huge arcticle recently on it as well, maybe check it out. Im no tuning genious by any means but even my dads truck picked up 2mpg with a K&N and muffler, idk something must be goin on there.

i get 37-38mpg highway in my 2002 GTI 1.8T, can i have the EPA rating for it too. then be told im wrong?

Dude ill fill up my tank, bring ya for a ride to Lake George goin up the northway @65mph in 5th and ill do the calculations and i can gurauntee at least 27+ as long as theres no 50mpg headwind that day lol
