# Where to buy shower insert - inexpensively!

My current shower is old and has a crack in it, and my epoxy fix only lasted a few weeks as expected. I had planned on a full reno months back, but I don’t plan on being in this house too much longer and know I wouldn’t get the ROI I’d want. I just want to do a replacement insert to get by on the cheap. I plan to pay for installation. I know of bath fitters and the big box stores… My question is if anyone knows of anywhere else that has good deals. I don’t want to buy crap, but do want to do this on the cheap. My ears are open…

Grossman’s bargain outlet had some decent stuff when i was there a while back. They are hit or miss depending on what they get in. There is one on Lake ave just over the Rte 90 bridge.

Whatever you buy, make sure it’s installed properly. Not something you want to fail / do twice. Bath fitters will not be “inexpensive”.

Thanks guys. Trust me this isn’t my choice of shower… I only plan on being in this house for another year or so. I have a potential buyer and he wants to do his own thing anyway.
By the way, if anyone is looking to buy a house in the Elma area with 2 acres of land, let me know!

I have found that Ferguson’s is less expensive than lowes. I got a tub there pretty cheap. What did you try to use, and where is the crack? I checked out Ferguson’s when I was going to do a full reno… the first thing they told me is “you’re better off looking at our website before you look around our store”. I found that a little odd. I’ll check them out again regardless if it comes to replacing the shower.
jimmyfloyd - hmm, that looks like it might be a little more effective. I just used a Gorilla Glue or Loctite (can’t remember which) 2-part epoxy. What you linked has MUCH more surface coverage. That might be worth a try. The crack is near the drain, about 8" long, kind of smack dab where you stand. I try to avoid it, but when you step near it you can feel the floor of the shower flex. The epoxy I laid down only has about 1-2" of overlap on either side so i knew it wasn’t going to last. I might try that out, thanks.

Not yet. I’m getting married in November and shortly after we will be seriously looking. It’s on Townline Road between Clinton and Bullis, around 1,800 ft, just under 2 acres, 3 bed, 1.5 bath, all new front yard, some minor remodeling, a shed in the backyard, and a 24’ x 24’ garage in the woods with concrete floors, lighting, electric, and water plumbed but not finished. Iroquois school district, taxes are around $4,500. If you like ATV’s or hunting/fishing, this is a dream home.

Ya, and it wasn’t my cup of tea. The place I liked the best was Bath and Kitchen Unlimited near the Galleria. The project was going to cost me about $15k, which wasn’t worth it to me since Ill be out in a year or so anyway.
