# Where were you in 1990?

Wow old newspapers are interesting. I just flipped through some of the newspapers in my wood box. They’re from 1990. So I’m reading the paper and here’s what’s going on:
-The Bills are 12-2. Ticket prices are up to $28 for sideline and club level zones.
-A secret task force met in Buffalo to plan for how to deal with the Crips that are being spotted in increasing numbers here. No signs of the Mafia Bloods yet.
-The DOW just closed at 2635.59
-Reagan is going to resume testifying on camera today about what he knew about the Iran-contra affair.
-Griffin and Coppola are fighting over spending on the park system.
-200 chinese gathered at UB to discuss why the Democratic movement in China failed. It mentions the final ending at Tiannamen Square last May.
-The City of Buffalo decided to scrap it’s current test/select process for cops and firefighters. “Once we get a testing and selection process that everyone can be happy with, the quotas can be lifted and we can have a test that doesn’t discriminate and selects candidates based on merit” says Assistant Corporation Counsel Margaret A Murphy.
-You can get a Sharp VHS camcorder with auto-zoom for $999.99 or a Headstart Technologies IBM Compatible 286 computer package for $1999.99 with 5.25 and 3.5 floppy drives, 32mb hard drive, 1mb ram, and a 12mhz 286 processor.
-There are little blips 4 pages in about how Germany has announced plans for a united country, something about growing evidence that AIDS came from monkeys, and apparently Gorbachov isn’t doing a very good job at restructuring the Soviet government and economy.
