# Which engine should I chose?

I took out a piston and was wondering which way I should go for my preferences
I wanna drift
I wanna have reliable 300 hp
and I am able to spend money because I have time and 2 hyundai excels that are really cheap to fix to get me around 8)
Any comment appreciated.

RB25 for sure. I also hae eng sale for RB25 engine only and if perfect upgrade for your car!!! Let me know if your interested!!!
P.S. RB25=most reliable RB engine and best bang for your buck!!!

I don’t think the RB20 trans mates with the RB25 engine, so he’ll need the tranny too. But I agree with the RB25 comment (and its not because I have one too :finga: )

it would actually be easier to use the RB20 trans as the 25 trans is shorter and if the RB25 trans is used the front drive shaft will need to be sent to the shop to be made roughly an inch and a half longer. I always hybred the 25 yoke onto the 20 shaft. Takes atleast a few hrs and still needs ballancing. Soooo RB20 trans will work fine.

It has the exact same oil drive as the 26, it’s not fixed on an rb25. The main reason they dont blow like 26’s is that they are A: newer, and B: have a lower redline. But the oil drive problem is definately not fixed on them.
Also, I’m the “goof” that voted for the rb20 rebuild. Think about it retards, would you rather build up a bored/stroked rb20 with forged internals and make it a 2.3 or 2.4 litre for a little bit more money than having a USED motor that you dont know the condition of, having to do a swap, and then you still have a used motor thats gonna blow up if you try to push it really hard.
If you rebuild an rb20, you can do it for a little bit more money than the 25 swap, but imo its well worth it. Throw some cams in there while you’re at it, JUN oil pump drive, forged pistons, gtr crank, forged rods, metal headgasket. By the time you’re done you have a bullet proof motor that’ll walk on a stock rb25 or rb26…
If i would do it all over again I probably would have built an rb24 just for the peace of mind of having a built motor.

thanx mates,this gives me alot to think about.i am currently leaning toward a full built rb26.but with my present finances,a full built rb20 is looking somewhat sufficient.

rb20 built is always suffiecient …
