edit: i suck at reading. anyways, i guess i’d go z06 in the end, but as a c5 owner, i hate the fucking things as a daily driver. i have lost count of how many things i hate on my car at 75K, on a '98. WTF. but if you like wrenching, and… i dunno. whatever. i’m leaving this thread

After the C6 came out I lost interest in the C5. My uncle picked up a C5 for a weekend car for under 20k and loves it. I don’t like the interior and the auto transmission never was in the right gear. Even in a manual I would rather have the BMW then the C5 on a road course. On the other hand my grandpa had an M roadster that was fun to drive and pretty quick.
Pure speed & moddablity C5 Zo6 \> M3
Handling & ride C5 Zo6 \< M3
Interior C5 Zo6 \< M3
Exterior C5 Zo6 \< M3
I think it matters what you are looking for 1/4 mile, auto X, or chick magnet.

One nice thing about the vette is that it is quick stock, and making it faster can go in stages, with the Bimmer, the first round of bolt-ons won’t even happen, I’ll go straight for the Turbo kit. Whichever car I get though, I’ll want to get some road coarse time with it. I know both will work for that out of the box. Like Jaeger said though, having a 600 whp E46 M3 is pretty unheard of, I can think of maybe 3, however there are a lot of Vettes pushing that kinda power, even around locally. (I wanna be special 😛 )

Im gonna secretly lobby for your wifey to change her mind :snky: and want Z06 instead of M3 so I can get a ride in said turboZ06 when its done :snky:
And besides, its 50-28 in favor of the Z06 in your poll, you wouldnt dare make up your own mind after making a poll, would you?? :ohnoes: :biglol:

I’ve driven both… and I wouldn’t buy either 🙂
But if I HAD to I’d pick the M3 because I can’t stand the super-long-hood feel of Corvettes and Transmarobirds.

Z06 all the way.
with it’s performance, who cares about what the interior looks like? The exterior of the car is still slick as hell and dollar for dollar… the vette will walk over the M3 all day long.
the m3’s are nice, but more of a passengers car with some very nice performance, than a drivers car IMO

At this rate I think it will be whichever car I run into that has the options/color combo that I want, that is a decent deal. I thought the poll would help, but really is making it worse. LOL
Both cars have their pros and cons, at the end of the day, I’ll be happy with either one.

Too late. Drove one at a local dealer, but the black/red interior was a total deal breaker.
I need to drive them back to back, but the last time I drove an M3 the power did not impress me, in fact if felt about as slow as the Neon in the garage. 😃
