i was there for the ticket so i can vouch… we sat outside are hotel with cameras and camcorders and people would rev there engine and fly by and two hotels over a cop would sit and pull people over left and right… we made it a game to see how many tickets we could get. ---

I don’t go to ford carlisle anymore either. Two years ago I got a “wreckless driving” ticket. It was absolute bullshit. I’m driving a 350hp car with a fully built automatic transmission and a shift kit. I pulled away from a light just normal throttle (not much at all), and chirped second really lightly (the car does this every fucking time no matter what). Carlisle cop pulled me over, and demanded that I pay him a cash fine of 195 bucks or something. I told him that the car has a built transmission with a shift kit, and it chirps second sometimes. He then started threatening me with towing the car because it was unsafe if it shifts like that. Total douchebag, and I was being cool with him. He then went on ranting that if I was pulled over 100 feet further, it would be a school zone and the fine is 1000 bucks and a night in jail. Its udder bullshit, I will never be back. And the bullshit that the shitty hotels pull during show weekends is nonsense. I can’t justify paying 125 a night for a shit motel 6. Which brings me to another story. Cops would go to the hotel parking lots, and just look at registrations, to make sure nothing was expired. Most of us were out of state. Then they would threaten to take people to jail for open beer containers. None of us were driving, we just were drinking outside in the parking lot. The local carisle cops would show up, and sometimes PA troopers. Its just getting too stupid, and this is the ford show that attracts a bit of a more mature crowd (not by much). I imagine they made the import show not fun at all. This all stems from that one year the import show got out of hand, now they buckle down on every show. ---

The residents are up in arms about the shows disturbing them. Kids racing all over the place, people walking around drunk, all kinds of stuff. The residents hate it, but thats the only thing the town has going for it. It mine as well be east bumfuck because there is absolutely nothing else there. The highlight of the area besides the show is a truckstop. Back when I was in college, my job sent me to meet with Tops (giant) at their corporate headquarters in carlisle. There is absolutely nothing to do there, we just ended up getting some beer and drinking at the motel. It was hard enough getting beer in PA, you have to buy it at a bar or a state run shop. ---

i was at carlisle and that deffinitly is not true. the cops were only pulling people over for doing stupid shit like they should be. ---

[/quote] I think you missed my point. He compared it to Hamburg trying to kick out the RV show. My point was there no where near the same, because at the RV show you don’t have a bunch of asshats ripping around the town in their modified cars. AKA, I can completely understand the town of Carlisle wanting to kick the car show out, while I’d find it stupid if Hamburg did the same thing to the RV show. So basically: Group with a high percentage of asshats = Cops trying to run you out of town. ---

The Street Nationals at the fairgrounds were cut short because of the clowns, although I hear it’s making a resurgence. ---

fyi, i got a second confirmation on this story… and someone who got a ticket for not having a hood on their truck, AS they were unloading the truck off their trailer in the lot! so this def isn’t bs, the cops were dicking people over hardcore ---
