# Who's at fault???

The problem is he did take pictures of the accident scene. I know he wrote down my licence number and has my name, cell and address. I panicked when he said he was a lawyer so when I agreed to give him the cash, I gave him my info as well. I didn’t give him my insurance information though. The next day when he called for the cash and I said I would rather go through insurance, that’s when he said he would get a lawyer to come after me and mentioned that he was going to the reporting center the next day. So if he reports it and I don’t, that’s illegal. Thus I have to report it. I didn’t have a camera of my cell on me so I couldn’t take any pictures.

… Its not illegal for you to not report an accident… thats your own problem. It sounds like hes trying to scam you. He wants the $500 because he knows there is nothing wrong to his car. He doesnt want to go through insurance because he either doesn’t have it, or he know that it could come down to a you say he say, and he might end up getting fucked.
Just dont report it, and dont give him money. If hes not reporting it, or calling you, then its not a big deal
