> **[BBC News - Jumping wolf photographer loses wildlife prize](http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/8470962.stm)**
>
> The winner of a major wildlife photography award is disqualified because the wolf featured in his photograph was likely a "model".

> Mr Carwardine explained that he and his fellow judges had gathered evidence and sought the opinions of wolf experts in order to reach their decision.

> The experts compared the winning picture to pictures of Ossian, a tame wolf that lives at a zoological park near Madrid called Canada Real.

> “You can see several very distinctive markings and the experts all agreed that, yes, it’s the same wolf,” said Mr Carwardine.

> “We disqualified [Mr Rodriguez] and banned him for life from entering the competition again, so I think that sends a strong message.”

Hey, check out my sweet wildlife shot of this tame wolf that I rented and had make the jump over and over until I got my ultimate “wild” shot. FAIL

It’s a gorgeous shot and I’m sure a lot of work went in to capturing it. But since he’s using a trained wolf it doesn’t qualify as being “wildlife”, certainly not wildlife photographer of the year wildlife.

No shit it’s fake. “You mean a wild wolf wouldn’t jump over a fence towards you when you are close enough for your flash to light him up in the dark?”

^ The guy claimed he was using remote triggers on a camera he set up in the wild after observing the wolves traveling that path. I remember reading about the setup when the awards were given out.

Found this translated page about how the whole investigation started.

Looking at the comparison pictures, they don’t look the same. There is a lot more brown on the nose area of the winning picture than Ossian, the claimed rental.

Sure, theres a black dot… big whoop. I’ve seen 100’s of gerbils with white spots on their heads, because all gerbils look similar. Wolves do to.

Take the picture below of two wolves… and then argue that it’s two different wolves and I didn’t just photoshop two identical wolves from two different photos together. You can’t, because they look identical… because they are. Or are they? I’m sure out of all of the wolves in the world, more than one has a black fur spot under their eyes…

You seriously can’t spot a difference between those that you posted? Do you know the difference between your toilet and your shower?
