thinking about picking this up, win 7 pro would be the one i think. anyone using this? anyone know of a cheaper LEGAL way to get pro for less than 140 shipped?

those torrent links u posted in the other thread seem to be dead… i was going to check it out b4 i drop the cash… not real keen on pirated software though.

Im using windows 7 pro right now and i love it. I did get the student discount. My friend copied to OS to his other laptop and purchased it so he could get all the MS updates.

Just drop the cash man. If you aren’t into illegal software, buy Windows 7. It’s definitely worth the money in my opinion, and I work in IT for a living.

Just installed 7 on every PC I own including my Acer Aspire One netbook and it runs GREAT! I opted for the verrrrryyy low cost route, lol.
As far as upgradeing, please do not purchase an upgrade disk! Get an OEM clean install. Back up your data and install a clean copy of the OS. Absolute best way to do it. Also, check out the differences between all of the versions. Chances are _most_ will not need to fork up extra cash for anything above home premium. Make sure you need what pro or higher will have to offer.
Then you will have to choose beteween 32bit and 64bit. What is your current hardware?

i have windows 7 ultimate 64 bit on my laptop now. i got it for ~ $20 through my school. all i can say it is so much better than vista. my computer is running a lot smoother now and it is much faster. i have no complaints thus far.
