# Windows Update erases everything, WTF!

I have a Compaq CQ60 laptop running Vista. When it updates and installs the Service Pack 2, the computer goes back to it’s original state as if I just purchased it. All of my files, including pictures, documents, firefox, aim, Office, etc. are deleted.
Once I go back and run a system restore everything is restored, but no service pack 2. Any ideas as to WTF is happening and if it can be remedied?

For $600, I won’t steal your computer and never answer your phone calls…
For $900, I also won’t place hidden jailbait on your workstation and call the FBI with your address.
For $2,000 you will receive a brand new Dell back and I’ll call it “Magic”

For $300 I can buy a new one… this one only cost me $350. Any other ideas or is this a gremlin I’m going to have to live with?
