# wireless apple questions

i didn’t mention anything about a super l33t gaming rig, cuz thats not my intention ever for a laptop but apples unless its a direct plug in (which some are but not all), most the time are a pain in the ass to access the hardware, unlike most windows based latops where its one panel and you have access to everything.
alot of apple laptops you have to go even as far as removing the lcd just to access the harddrive or wireless cards. pita if you ask me.

dave your probably one of the guys that i figured would understand due to using macs and knowing about their hardware, i have no problem with apple as an os because for the most part it is very sound. but most apple laptops are such a pain to work on. ive worked on alot and there are very few that make the hardware easily accessible to swap.
anywho, hope you get the card in nick (i was just fucking around with ya but yeah)

meh. sorry ryan. i just get so sick of the second the word “apple” is mentioned, ignorant nay sayers have to throw their worthless opinions in.
you’re right, they are tough to work on. i haven’t worked on many, but i’ve taken apart and put back together my 12" G3 iBook and it was a hell of a time to do it. as far as airport card installs go though, i think it’s rather simple. when trying to limit size, at the time, stuffing a PCMCIA slot in the computer was out of the question. IMO, the install of the airport cards is rather simple and designed very well all things considered. sure, it’s tough to do major hardware repairs on them, but i think that’s hard on any laptop. i like that apple made doing wireless and ram upgrades simple enough that just about anyone with the slightest semblance of computer knowledge (read: me) can upgrade those things without paying astronomical prices to do so.
