# Wireless Troubles

I just installed a new Belkin Wireless Router…the instruction manual doesnt tell me how to make it secure and i cant log into any secure websites…I dunno if its because of that or M and T Bank and Verizon are having issues where none can log in…So Basically I need help on how to secure my wireless connection

Look in your menu of options for an option to limit access via MAC address or MAC table.

Start there. Then if you really want to get paranoid, set a WEP, and disable your broadcast so that no one can see the network.

Limiting the wireless to certain MAC addresses is near worthless… It is extremely easy to spoof a MAC address… Same with WEP, it can be cracked within minutes… If you care about security set up WPA and use a passphrase at least 21 (IIRC) characters long…
