Lookin for an AMD Athlon64 2800+ or better my pos chip isnt cutting it for COD 4 Also I need a MB for it. Let me know if anyone has anything laying around please

well i have a socket A now, but i was reading and seems like most athlon 64 have to use socket AM2 so i dunno if my board would work with an athlon 64 processor

If its a socket A proc and Socket A mobo it should be fine… the conflict comes in when DDR goes to DDR2 and different pin sockets.
umm… I really don’t know about the 64 bit shit. but AMD has been 64 for a while. I would just assume if it fits socket A it should be fine…
AM2 and Socket A will never work together btw
Processors AMD Athlon (650 MHz - 1400 MHz)
AMD Athlon XP (1500+ - 3200+)
AMD Duron (600 MHz - 1800 MHz)
AMD Sempron (2000+ - 3300+)
AMD Athlon MP (1000 MHz - 3000+)
AMD Geode NX (667 MHz - 2200 MHz)
for socket A
looks like 754 and beyond is when 64 was created.

why not get a different video card? I’m sure that would help out much more than a Proc…

its not the vid card i got a radion 9800 pro, its the processor i just called activision lowest processor to run the game can be a amd 64 so thats what i need an amd 64 processor of some sorft with a board if poss lol

well here is your options.
Socket 754 mobo and new proc
socket 939 mobo and new proc
socket 940 lets not go there expennnsive…
am2 - mobo proc, and new ram.
i would find something 754 or 939 what do you want to spend… just the min to run the game?
if so 754 would be your best bet
